So where do we start?
The way to start a great website is by planning. A two hour meeting with a
little prep work by you will save us both hours and you money.
By
prep work I mean,
1. Look around at other sites in your specialty field and save them. Write
them down or save them in your favorites in your web browser.
2. Think about your style. Are you classic, contemporary, modern or
prefer realism vs. artistic graphics.
3. Describe your business in 3 sentences.
4. Think of 10 words people would type in a search engine to find your
new site.
5. Gather photos of interest. Personal and business related.
6. Goals and/or Mission statement.
The meeting-
We will go over your prep work. Buy your web address, choose e-mail
accounts and discuss and plan your site, goals and expectations. I will scan
photos if need be, take VHS to convert, DVDs and/or any other Media
you have to prepare for the web. ~a deposit is due for me to begin~
If you really don't have a clue how to do any of these things a
pre-training meeting may be in order. I will gladly teach you to e-mail
photos, attach documents, find and save your documents, create folders,
cut and paste and anything else to help you get more familiar with
communicating through the web.
Template Phase-
After our prep meeting, I will design 3-5 templates for you to pick and
choose from. I like to color coordinate things to flow like rooms in a
house, but that is entirely personal style and does not dictate the
framework of your site.
Meat and potatoes phase-
Once the template has been finalized and the framework has been built,
then we simply fill in the blanks with text, photos, slide shows, video etc.
This phase takes time and is based on amount of text, pages and
complexity of the site.
Final details-
After the site is up and running, you will need to proof the entire site.
Friends and family are a lot of help in this department.
Updates, Site maintenance and additions-
All are welcome throughout the life of the site. I am always glad to help
add pay pal features, shopping carts, new video or photos or simply
update the text or add new links. Resubmitting your site should be done
after any changes and at least every 30-45 days.
Promotions-
Promotional e-mails, newsletters, ads and reciprocating links on other
websites are always a way to keep your site on top.
